Angelica Gutierrez (Aura Carcueva): A hardworking and mild-mannered 40-year-old nurse by day and fundraiser/event organizer by night.

Angelica finds solace in her Silayan Community Group, old friends, old game shows and RomComs. When her husband died in a car crash, she felt she had to leave home to create better opportunities for her daughter in Canada and now she wants her daughter to make the most of them. Angelica feels guilty because she’s lost so many years with Grace, she isn’t even sure how to talk to her anymore. She is a single mother, raising a teen girl in a new country. She is conflict averse but also strict with a traditional outlook which leads to many silent battles. She realizes rebuilding her relationship with her daughter is going to take time and often turns to her niece Ria for help. All she really wants is for Grace to behave well, to study hard and to find nice friends. It’s important to Angelica that Grace has a sense of home in Canada. She understands Grace is talented and loves to sing and sees the choir as the perfect safe place for Grace to build community and learn hard work and skills—much more respectable than social media. Sometimes, Angelica sticks her nose into choir drama and inadvertently stirs the pot. Mother and daughter generally speak English but occasionally there is a bit of Tagalog at home.
